There is no fee for writers to join and we only take a 15% commission on royalties earned.
That’s correct. We actually collect a different type of royalty. Record labels and distributors are focused on recordings, while publishing administrators like us are focused on compositions.
*It’s important to note that if you’re already using CD Baby’s publishing services (CD Baby Pro), you won’t be able to use UniteSync. The same goes if you’re already working with another publishing administrator.
Your PRO only handles performance royalties from a specific area, leaving mechanical and international royalties unclaimed. To access these royalties, you’ll need to register your song in over 215 countries. A publishing administrator like UniteSync can simplify the process and cover almost all global markets.
We are often able to receive royalties from societies that cover the past one or two years. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to obtain retroactive royalties due to various factors, such as past publishing agreements and individual society policies. To increase your chances of receiving retroactive royalties, please ensure that your account has accurate information regarding co-writers, splits, and ISRC/recording details for all titles. If we are able to successfully collect your retroactive royalties, you can expect to receive payment about two or three quarters after your initial royalty statement.
When you join UniteSync, we gather income from various sources that operate on their own schedule. It usually takes approximately 9-12 months for your global registration to be complete, and for you to receive your initial royalty payment. After that, you will receive payouts at the end of every quarter, as long as you meet our minimum threshold of $25.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that certain societies may prioritize payments based on overall earnings.
UniteSync pays royalties quarterly, provided you meet the $25 minimum and have valid tax info. Payment is made via bank transfer in the last week of each quarter.
Absolutely! It is possible to create a UniteSync account regardless of whether you are an independent songwriter, publisher, label, manager, or lawyer, as long as you are managing the publishing rights of a writer or multiple writers. With our user-friendly dashboard, account managers have the ability to track and filter earnings for each of their songwriters.
