Interested Parties Information (IPI)

Music Publshing Glossary

A songwriter or publisher can be uniquely identified with a nine-digit number known as IPI. The CAE database was replaced by the IPI database as the industry standard in 2001. However, both the IPI and CAE are often used interchangeably. Some CMOs assign their songwriters both an IPI and a CAE, but this is only applicable to certain members. When a rightsholder becomes a member of a PRO, they are assigned an IPI number. It is important to note that your IPI number is different from your collection society account or member number.
