This refers to the procedures and activities involved in managing musical compositions. It includes registering works with collection societies, registering copyrights, issuing licenses directly or through an agent or collection society on behalf of the copyright holder, collecting and disbursing fees and royalties, and all other tasks related to the use of a musical work and/or sound recording.
