Performing Rights Organizations (PRO)

Music Publshing Glossary

Performance Rights Organizations (PROs) are entities that are tasked with the responsibility of collecting income on behalf of songwriters and music publishers. When a song is publicly broadcast or performed, whether it’s on television, radio, in clubs, restaurants, websites, or other broadcasting systems, PROs collect license fees for such usage. After taking a small fee, they pay the remaining amount to their registered songwriters.
