Copyright

Music Publshing Glossary

As per the law, the creator of an original work has certain rights. For instance, a songwriter or author has the right to copy, distribute, and adapt their work. According to the U.S. copyright law, the moment you create a tangible copy of your work, you become its copyright owner. In other words, if you simply imagine a song in your head, you do not hold any copyright, but as soon as you write it or record it, you become its copyright holder.
